has been providing a custom kiln drying service for over 40 years under
the name of Timber Dryers Ltd. Anticipating strict new emission
legislation, we have recently, begun a £300,000 investment programme
beginning with a new wood-fired boiler, replacing the 15 year old steam
boiler with a new fully automated wood-fired hot water boiler. Modern
features include automated wood feed and ash removal systems. The new boiler will consume up to 40 tonnes of wood-waste from the Blumsom Moulding Mill and scrap dunnage and crates from the yard, producing energy for the kilning plant and heat for the mill and timber storage sheds. Included in this new phase is a new 5 cubic metre capacity kiln commissioned in March 2004, again fully automated with computer settings programmed for all types of timber. We have plans to increase capacity by building 30 cubic metre kilns in the future. Announcing the investment programme, Robert Blumsom "The whole industry will be forced to accept new legislation on pollution and fuel efficiency, so we have decided to move forward now.
